Win, Lose and Draw for Atletico

Roffey Robins Atletico U-10’s took part in the  Horsham and District Youth Football league tournament at the Sussex FA headquarters at Lancing at the weekend. Atletico’s results brought back memories of an early 90’s daytime TV quiz show as they came away with a win, loss and draw.

In the first game versus Heron Way, Atletico took the victory courtesy of a Romario Moratalla goal. Moratalla received the ball from William Anderson, although there was much work to do at that point and finished with aplomb, drilling the ball right footed into the bottom left corner. Atletico were edged out in the second game, with East Grinstead Mead winning by a single goal. Joshua Bellamy, Jack Dann and Henry Dinsdale all had opportunities, although to no avail. The third game was goalless against Ashington Cougars. Once again, there was lots of positive play, particularly from Aaron Woodhams and Josh Davidson although Atletico were unable to convert their chances. Cougars had a few opportunities of their own, although Theo Botevyle had another commanding performance in goal.

Manager Ricardo Moratalla said “the boys are disappointed to miss out on the semi-finals on goal difference, but they can take great pride in how they performed and worked as a team today. All three games were so, so tight and we can look forward to the next part of the season with great confidence.”
