Atletico made the perfect start with Joshua Bellamy opening the scoring within the first five minutes. He received a pass from Luca Harris on the left hand side of the penalty area, although had work to do before scoring. He beat two Plumpton defenders before striking the ball to the goalkeeper’s left. The keeper got a hand to the ball but couldn’t keep it out.
The remainder of the first half was an even affair. Roffey were a constant threat, particularly down the left hand side with Will Anderson and Aaron Woodhams working well together. Plumpton thought they had scored with a wonderful shot which was heading for the top right corner of the goal. Keeper Theo Botevyle somehow flung himself to his left and pulled off a wonderful save.
Atletico introduced Romario Moratalla for the second half and he immediately linked up with Bellamy to increase the pressure on the Plumpton defence. Josh Davidson was introduced to the Atletico defence and gave a composed performance alongside Tim Clifford.
